JK After Attending Prabowo's Invitation: We Hope He Expresses Sympathy for Iran
Jusuf Kalla, the 10th and 12th Vice President of Indonesia, known as JK, disclosed the content of a meeting between a number of invited guests and President Prabowo Subianto on the evening of Tuesday 3 March 2026. He said the meeting largely discussed the state of the country and the direction of policy going forward.
‘Yes, how the state of the country is, explained how the policy is, the state of the country,’ JK said when speaking to reporters after delivering a talk at the UGM Campus Mosque on the evening of Thursday 5 March 2026.
When asked by reporters about Indonesia’s stance on the war between Iran and Israel–US, JK hoped Indonesia would show sympathy to Iran.
‘Yes, of course, we hope he will show sympathy to Iran,’ JK said.
JK said that efforts to reconcile a country at war are not easy. In his view, the party that needs to be urged to stop the conflict is the party that carries out attacks.
‘Tbut to reconcile in such a war is not easy. The one who should be given, visited, is Trump, because he is the attacking one,’ he said.
‘How to use the Board of Peace to become peace. So the Indonesian government should request to use the Board of Peace for peace,’ he added.

The meeting was held behind closed doors. In a photo released by the Presidential Secretariat Bureau, the discussion was conducted in a circular seating arrangement with several monitor screens at the centre of the room.
Prabowo Ready to Depart for Iran
Previously, the Indonesian Foreign Ministry said President Prabowo was prepared to mediate between the US, Israel, and Iran. Prabowo was said to be ready to depart for Tehran if the relevant countries permit.
‘The Government of Indonesia, in this case the President of the Republic of Indonesia, states readiness to facilitate dialogue to restore a conducive security environment and if both sides agree, the President of Indonesia is willing to travel to Tehran to mediate,’ said the Foreign Ministry’s X account on Saturday 28 February 2026.
