Jiung Market Kemayoran Fire: Flames Still Burning
Jakarta is facing another major fire incident. A major blaze has engulfed the Jiung Market area in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, drawing continued public attention. Flames that erupted overnight continue to consume parts of the structures as firefighters work to contain the blaze. According to VIVA’s monitoring of tvOneNews footage on Tuesday, 2 June 2026, fires are still burning several market stalls in Jiung Market Kemayoran, with fire crews still working to extinguish the flames. Civilians have gathered around the scene to watch the firefighting efforts, while security personnel are on duty to manage traffic and secure the area to avoid disrupting evacuation and fire suppression operations. Firefighting efforts face multiple challenges, including narrow roads and densely packed structures around the fire site, forcing crews to work tirelessly to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby residential areas. A total of 33 firefighting units and approximately 100 personnel have been deployed to the scene. Responders arrived at around 9:05 PM WIB and immediately began operations to control the flames. The fire’s proximity to Masjid Jami’ Al Ikhlas has drawn special attention from authorities, with the high density of residential areas increasing the risk of fire spread, making containment the top priority on-site. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, with officials unable to determine the source as the immediate priority is extinguishing the flames and securing the surrounding area. Material losses from the incident are still being assessed, with relevant teams set to conduct further investigations once the scene is secure and firefighting operations conclude. As of publication, firefighters remain on-site to ensure the fire is fully extinguished and does not reignite, with public access restricted and power cut off for safety.
