JIS Station to Operate in Two Months, Residents: No Need to Take Motorbike Taxis to Ancol Anymore
JAKARTA — Plans for the operation of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) station in June 2026 have been positively received by nearby residents.
The presence of the station is seen as facilitating transportation access, particularly for residents who previously had to travel considerable distances to board trains.
“I am greatly helped by this station,” said one resident named Ojos (46) when interviewed by Kompas.com at the location on Saturday (11/4/2026).
Previously, Ojos had to head to Jakarta Kota Station or Ancol Station to travel by train. The distance from the JIS area to Ancol Station is about 1.6 kilometres, requiring him to use a motorbike taxi at a fare of around Rp 10,000.
Another resident, Edi (70), expressed similar sentiments. He said he is pleased because the distance to the station will now be closer to his home.
“I’m happy because the station is now close. Previously, to take the train, I had to go from Tanjung Priok and transfer vehicles,” he said at the location on Saturday.
Therefore, Edi hopes that the operation of the JIS Station can be accelerated so that it can soon be utilised by the public.
Previously, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the construction of the JIS Station is targeted to be completed in May 2026. Following that, the station’s operation is planned for June 2026, coinciding with the 499th Anniversary of the City of Jakarta.
