Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has assured that the construction of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) Station in North Jakarta will be completed in May 2026. “In May next month, hopefully the KRL station for JIS will also be finished,” Pramono stated at the DKI Jakarta City Hall in Central Jakarta on Thursday (9/4/2026). He noted that the completion of this station, directly integrated with the international-scale stadium, will serve as a special gift for the 499th anniversary celebration of DKI Jakarta in June. Pramono believes that the operation of this KRL station will provide a solution to the accessibility and congestion issues frequently complained about by the public when attending major events at JIS. With direct rail transport access to the stadium, residents’ mobility is expected to become more practical and efficient. Furthermore, the presence of this station is anticipated to attract more large-scale events to JIS. “So clearly, people coming to watch at JIS will find it much easier and more comfortable,” Pramono said. Pramono mentioned that the completion of the JIS Station is part of efforts to improve the public transportation system in northern Jakarta. “This is not new construction, but utilising the non-electric train to become electric. And that will significantly change transportation in the north,” he explained. The project has been directly discussed with PT KAI and has received approval from President Prabowo Subianto.
