JIS Station Begins Serving Tanjung Priok Commuter Line, Access to Stadium Area Becomes More Practical

Starting Monday, 22 June 2026, at 13.00 WIB, the Commuter Line serving the Tanjung Priok–Jakarta Kota route began stopping at Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) Station in Sunter, North Jakarta. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is supporting the limited operational activation of the station, which officially serves passengers on the 13.00 WIB schedule. KAI Vice President Corporate Communication Anne Purba stated that the limited operation of JIS Station is part of strengthening public transport access in North Jakarta and serves as an initial service phase before future development towards the JIS Ultimate interconnection. “Starting today, Tanjung Priok Commuter Line passengers have a new access option via JIS Station. The presence of this station is expected to ease public mobility towards the Jakarta International Stadium area and surrounding activity points,” Anne said. During this limited operational phase, KRL services on the line operate daily from 05.30 WIB to 21.00 WIB with a 30-minute headway. To access JIS Station, passengers from Jakarta Kota, Kampung Bandan, or Ancol must first travel to Tanjung Priok Station, then use the Tanjung Priok–Jakarta Kota Commuter Line which stops at JIS Station. For departures from JIS Station, KAI has prepared Platform 1 specifically to serve passengers heading to Ancol, Kampung Bandan, and Jakarta Kota stations. Anne explained that the activation of JIS Station is closely linked to the need for public transport services directly connected to mass event areas. As a large-capacity stadium, JIS requires rail transport access support so that passenger movement to and from the area can be more orderly, planned, and easily accessible. “JIS Station opens a new service space for Commuter Line passengers. When there are sports, entertainment, or community activities in the JIS area, the train can be a more practical travel option because it is directly connected to the Tanjung Priok–Jakarta Kota line,” Anne said. As a gesture of appreciation to the public for Jakarta’s 499th anniversary, the fare to and from JIS Station is set at Rp1 during the limited operational period from 22 to 28 June 2026. This special fare applies to Tanjung Priok Commuter Line passengers boarding from JIS Station heading to Tanjung Priok, Ancol, Kampung Bandan, and Jakarta Kota stations, as well as passengers from those stations alighting at JIS Station. KAI noted that the Tanjung Priok Commuter Line service continues to show a positive trend in passenger mobility in North Jakarta. Passenger volume on this line was recorded at 1,599,107 in 2022, rising to 2,676,363 in 2023, then 3,377,633 in 2024, and reaching 3,531,311 in 2025. In the January–May 2026 period, the Tanjung Priok line has served 1,468,660 passengers. According to Anne, this trend indicates that public demand for rail-based public transport in North Jakarta remains strong. With the arrival of JIS Station, the Tanjung Priok Commuter Line service gains a new service point close to the stadium area, residential areas, public spaces, and community activity zones. “KAI will ensure services at JIS Station run safely, orderly, and are easy for passengers to use. Officers are also prepared to assist passengers during the limited operational period, including managing entry flow, platform information, travel schedules, and services in the station area,” Anne said. KAI will continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Transportation and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in evaluating the limited operation of JIS Station. Evaluations are conducted periodically on service patterns, safety, facility readiness, officer preparedness, and access integration to and from the station. Anne urged passengers to pay attention to travel schedules, follow officer directions on the platform, use electronic money cards or applicable payment channels, and maintain station facilities for shared comfort. “This limited operation is an important stage to ensure JIS Station services can run well towards further development. KAI invites passengers to utilise the Commuter Line as the main public transport access to the JIS area and the Tanjung Priok–Jakarta Kota line,” Anne concluded.
