JIS Station Becomes New Magnet, Weekend Passenger Numbers Soar

Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) Station recorded a surge in passenger numbers of up to 300 percent at the weekend after officially commencing operations. The increase was driven by high levels of public activity, with people using the JIS area for sports and recreation. KAI Commuter VP Corporate Secretary Karina Amanda said the volume of passengers at JIS Station increased significantly compared to weekdays during the first week of operation. “This was triggered by public activity heading to the stadium area to exercise or simply enjoy the area around the stadium,” Karina said in a statement on Saturday (4/7/2026). Based on KAI Commuter data, throughout 22-28 June 2026 there were 4,203 passenger movements at JIS Station. This figure consisted of 2,555 users starting their journey from JIS Station and 1,648 users ending their journey at the station. Karina said the average number of passengers on weekdays reached around 250 people per day. Meanwhile, on Sunday (28/6/2026), JIS Station served 1,271 passengers in a single day, consisting of 821 users boarding and 450 users alighting. In addition, the special Rp1 fare programme for Tanjung Priok Commuter Line users boarding or alighting at JIS Station also received a positive response. During the period of 22-28 June 2026, a total of 1,232 passengers utilised the programme. “Throughout that period, a total of 1,232 users took advantage of the special fare programme,” said Karina. According to her, the increase in user numbers demonstrates the high demand among North Jakarta residents for rail-based transport services that are directly connected to the Jakarta International Stadium area and the surrounding public spaces. Karina said the presence of JIS Station also provides a transport alternative for the public, so that access to the stadium no longer depends on private vehicles. Going forward, KAI Commuter will continue to coordinate with the government and stakeholders to develop facilities and gradually improve services at JIS Station. “KAI Commuter also urges all users to maintain the available service facilities for the comfort of everyone,” said Karina.
