Jakarta - PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol Tbk is reviewing a new special zone tariff scheme following the inauguration of a pedestrian bridge connecting the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) area with Ancol, according to the company’s president director, Syahmudrian Lubis. “For the tariff, we are currently conducting a review for parts of Ancol where we might not charge people an entry fee, but instead create a special zone where only parking fees apply. Visitors would no longer be charged to enter that area,” Syahmudrian explained at JIS Station on Monday. He noted, however, that visitors would still need existing tickets to access the rides. Syahmudrian said the plan is still under review and that the company currently applies a flat rate per car. “But for certain moments, we will implement special rates. For example, today we are granting free entry to all visitors coming to Ancol. The same applies on the 27th and 28th,” he added. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed happiness at the inauguration of the station and bridge, calling it one of his dreams for the capital city. He hopes the KRL JIS station and the pedestrian bridge linking JIS with Ancol will resolve transport issues in the area. Pramono also assessed that the presence of KRL and Transjabodetabek services can reduce traffic congestion around JIS and Ancol. He added that people bringing private vehicles can park at Ancol and walk to JIS via the connecting pedestrian bridge. “This will greatly reduce the traffic jams that have been a problem during concerts or football matches,” Pramono said.
