Chairman of the Commission for the Acceleration of Police Reform, Jimly Asshiddiqie, said the commission’s work has been completed. He hopes the commission’s recommendations, formulated into 10 volumes, can be reported directly to President Prabowo Subianto before Lebaran.

‘The recommendations are already completed. So, hopefully, before the arrangements by the State Secretary and the Cabinet Secretary, before Lebaran,’ Jimly said after the iftar with clerics at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday night, 5 March 2026.

Jimly said the commission’s recommendations were compiled into 10 volumes. The results were formulated based on various inputs from diverse elements of society.

‘They are complete; the recommendations are complete, 10 volumes, yes, because we have absorbed the aspirations of the people,’ he explained.

Jimly disclosed that the commission also proposed regulatory changes. He noted that around eight Police Regulations (Perpol) and 24 Police Chief Regulations (Perkap) should be revised.

‘But there are issues that are principled and require changing the law, and would also require implementing regulations, as well as internal regulatory reforms. About eight Perpol (Police Regulations) and twenty-four Perkap (Polri Chief Regulations) that must be revised so that it can serve as the basis for ongoing internal reform in the long term,’ he said.

Jimly had previously said the delivery of the report awaited alignment with Prabowo’s schedule. He stressed there are a number of matters the commission cannot decide on its own.

‘Yes, we have requested. But because of his busy schedule, especially in this time of war, it was planned to go to America before, but it turned out not possible; the promise was after returning from America. And there is war. So, to the wider public, I must report that the Commission for the Acceleration of Police Reform has completed its task; there remain decisions that we cannot decide unilaterally,’ Jimly said.
