Politeknik Jakarta Internasional (JIHS) has affirmed its commitment to implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through an innovative Community Service Programme (PKM) with direct social impact.

In partnership with PKBM Teladan Ciracas Paket C, East Jakarta, a team of JIHS lecturers and students organised training aimed at fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among the exemplary students of PKBM Teladan Ciracas Paket C on Tuesday, 11 August 2026.

Held at the PKBM Teladan Ciracas Paket C school building on Jalan Madrasah Number 53A, Susukan, Ciracas, East Jakarta, the activity was attended by 40 students as the primary target participants.

The food and beverage industry, particularly the creative non-alcoholic beverage segment, was selected for the training programme due to its rapid growth and the broad new business opportunities it opens for the younger generation.

Mocktail products combining fruits, spices, and natural ingredients possess high aesthetic value, are easy to learn, and require relatively affordable initial capital for beginners.

The session began with a seminar on ‘Building an Entrepreneurial Spirit’ by Dr. Hugo Aries Suprapto, M.Pd, who analysed market opportunities and the formation of an entrepreneurial mentality for Generation Z.

Next, the PKM Chief Executive and JIHS lecturer, Rochiyat Setiawan, delivered material on ‘Curriculum Vitae Preparation’ and job interview techniques to prepare participants’ vocational readiness.

Entering the main session, participants received demonstrations and hands-on practice in mixing two featured beverage variants: ‘Golden Citrus Glow’, based on orange and lemon juice rich in vitamin C, and ‘Nusantara Herbal Spark’, which utilises the commodification of local spices such as lemongrass and ginger, guided by JIHS Hospitality students.

The training concluded with education on digital marketing strategies, attractive pouch packaging techniques, and pricing.

JIHS PKM Chief Executive, Taufik Hidayat, stated that entrepreneurship in the contemporary era is not merely about selling products, but rather the ability to design added value from affordable basic ingredients into highly competitive commodities.

“Through entrepreneurship training, we equip PKBM students with formal and non-formal skills not only in mixing beverages, but also in how to articulate their self-worth and entrepreneurial potential professionally,” he said, quoted on Monday (24/8/2026).

JIHS is a vocational higher education institution committed to producing globally competitive professional graduates in the fields of tourism, hospitality, communications, and digital business.

Through community service, JIHS bridges academic expertise with the real needs of society to support the development of superior Indonesian human resources.

This community service was designed to respond to the real challenges faced by non-formal education students in the era of global competition, where life skills and entrepreneurial abilities are crucial capital for achieving economic independence.

The Head of PKBM Teladan Ciracas, East Jakarta, Martini, said her institution is committed to equipping students with applied skills, thus requiring practical and enjoyable educational interventions.

The success and sustainability of this community service were also supported by cross-sector synergy with sponsor partners, including PT Pesona Inti Rasa (GulaVit), Ayam Crispi Kremes, and Discovery Hotel & Resort (DHR).

The collaboration between higher education institutions, schools, and the F&B industry is capable of creating a transformative learning space for the younger generation.

Through this direct learning experience, the students are expected not only to acquire new skills, but also to grow into individuals who are independent, creative, and courageous in seizing business opportunities in the future.
