JICT opens new link to Korea

JAKARTA (JP): Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) announced on Thursday it had opened a new direct link to the Philippines, Hong Kong and South Korea.

JICT president Simon Moore said the new container shipping service is provided by Heung-A shipping company to accommodate the increasing volume of cargo in Asia.

Heung-A general manager Herutomo said the company is providing three vessels to serve the weekly cargo service linking Manila and Jakarta to Surabaya, Hong Kong and Pusan, South Korea.

Moore said JICT had secured 10 new services since it commenced operation 10 months ago. JICT now offers over 30 direct sailings a week to ports around the world.

JICT is jointly owned by state-owned PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II and Hutchinson Port Holdings. (cst)
