JICA to open branch office in Makassar
MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: The Japan International
Cooperation Agency (JICA) plans to soon open a branch office in
Makassar in a bid to help facilitate its development projects in
Eastern Indonesia.
JICA deputy head Hanazato Nobuhito announced the plan on
Thursday during a meeting with South Sulawesi Governor Amin Syam
in Makassar.
Nobuhito said the agency would help finance the development of
the Mamminasata Metropolitan City in South Sulawesi as well as
education and village development projects there.
JICA would also increase its funding assistance for road and
sanitation development projects, as well as help the People's
Economic Empowerment Movement, which was launched by the
provincial administration last year.
In addition, the agency planned to hold talks with Hasanuddin
University about Japanese aid to eastern parts of Indonesia.
