A murder case involving Brigade Joxzin member Kitin Yogatama Rustamaji (KYR), aged 36, has been traced to the perpetrator taking offence at a remark. The suspect fatally attacked KYR after being insulted with the phrase “sok alim” (piously ostentatious).

The murder occurred when suspect SS, also known as Cobro (29), and FS (22), along with their associates, gathered at KYR’s residence on the evening of Tuesday, 24 February 2026. Eight people were present at the victim’s house in Kaliurang, Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul.

“The eight people gathered and during their conversation, SS felt insulted by remarks suggesting he should not act so piously if he was going to be there,” said Bantul Police Chief AKBP Bayu Puji Hariyanto to journalists at Bantul Police Station on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

Feeling offended, Cobro persuaded FS to leave at 04:00 Western Indonesia Time. However, Cobro took FS to his house to retrieve a machete.

Upon returning to the victim’s residence, the friends who had previously gathered had already gone home.

“At 05:00 Western Indonesia Time, SS returned to KYR’s house through the rear entrance and found KYR sleeping alongside his child and wife,” he stated.

It was then that Cobro repeatedly slashed the victim with the machete. The attack occurred while the victim was asleep beside his child and wife.

“SS then made three slashes: the first struck the left side of the face, the second hit the abdomen and also struck the fingers of KYR’s wife, and the third struck the right thigh of KYR, resulting in KYR’s death,” he said.

Suspects Not Joxzin Members

Meanwhile, Brigade Joxzin stated that the perpetrators of the murder are not members of their organisation. The murder is suspected to have been motivated by revenge.

“No, the suspects are not Joxzin members,” said Mohamad Novweni, a member of Brigade Joxzin’s Legal and Human Rights Team, when contacted by detikJogja on Tuesday, 10 March.

Novweni noted that the victim and suspected perpetrators had previously been in conflict. The murder is suspected to have underlying motives of revenge.

“From the perspective of friends who also knew the victim, it appears to be personal revenge because there had previously been friction between them (the victim and perpetrator),” he said.

Suspects Face Death Penalty

In this case, police have named Cobro and FS as suspects. Cobro served as the executor and FS as the getaway driver.

For his actions, SS is charged under Article 459 subsidiarily Article 458 subsection 1 of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. The charges relate to an offence whereby a person who, with prior premeditation, unlawfully takes another person’s life is charged with premeditated murder, subsidiarily any person who takes another person’s life unlawfully.

FS is charged under Article 459 subsidiarily Article 458 subsection 1 read together with Article 20 letter c of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.

“Both face potential penalties of death, life imprisonment, or imprisonment for a maximum of 20 years,” Bayu stated firmly.
