JFX no threat for Commex

KUALA LUMPUR (AFX-ASIA): The Commodity and Monetary Exchange
of Malaysia (Commex) sees little threat from the emergence of the
Jakarta Futures Exchange (JFX), Indonesia's commodity futures
exchange, which began robusta coffee and refined palm oil trading
on Friday, Business Times reported.

A Commex Business Development Section official was quoted as
saying that the exchange is not worried by JFX's actvities as
Malaysia and Indonesia have always cooperated to improve their
respective palm oil sectors.

"The existence of futures trading helps the sector to reduce
business risks as a result of fluctuations in palm oil prices,"
he said.

Commex officials also said JFX will provide opportunities for
inter-market spreads for Malaysia traders, and better risk
management.
