Gold jewellery prices in the city of Palu, Central Sulawesi, have experienced a decline over the past few days. This situation was observed at the Bambaru Gold Jewellery Market in Ujuna Ward, West Palu Subdistrict.

Based on observations, 22-karat gold jewellery is currently sold for around Rp2,300,000 per gram. Meanwhile, 23-karat gold is priced at approximately Rp2,500,000 per gram.

One trader, Taufik, stated that the price drop was influenced by the fall in bullion gold prices produced by PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam).

“Gold jewellery prices have also dropped because Antam gold prices have declined. Automatically, market prices adjust,” he said on Wednesday (1/4).

Another trader, Hasanah, echoed the sentiment. She explained that Antam gold is currently around Rp2,837,000 per gram, down from several months ago when it exceeded Rp3,000,000 per gram.

Nevertheless, this price reduction is beginning to have a positive impact on market activity. Public buying interest is slowly increasing, although purchasing power remains somewhat fluctuating.

“Purchasing power isn’t fully stable yet, but since prices dropped, transactions in the market have started to become busier,” said Hasanah.

The traders hope that gold prices will move stably in the future, so that buying and selling activities in traditional markets will increase further.
