Jetour Yet to Sell BEVs in Indonesia Amid Confusing Policy Impacts?
BEIJING, KOMPAS.com – Policies related to electric vehicles in Indonesia have recently come under scrutiny. This is because regulations regarding electric car incentives are often heard to be confusing and contradictory. On one hand, they are said to be subject to certain policies, but on the other hand, they are reported to receive exemptions as before. This situation raises the question: is the lack of clarity in regulations the reason why Jetour has not yet marketed pure electric cars, or BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles), in the country? “According to us, regarding incentives, we always say that Jetour will always support government policies, especially incentives. Because the goal is indeed for the long term of the automotive industry in Indonesia,” said Ranggy in Beijing (24/4/2026). However, he emphasised that Jetour’s business direction is not influenced by those policy dynamics, including the issue of inconsistent incentives. Instead of relying on government stimulus, Jetour chooses a more comprehensive approach in preparing its products. Their main focus is to bring vehicles with strong competitiveness, both in terms of design, features, and overall ownership value. Nevertheless, he does not deny that incentives still have an important role, especially in the early stage of electric vehicle adoption in Indonesia. Such support is considered able to encourage consumers to start switching to electrification. “Incentive policies are indeed very important for the early stage, to help consumers enter electrification, and that is very beneficial,” he said.
