Jetour Reveals Reasons for Not Yet Launching Electric Vehicles in Indonesia
BEIJING, KOMPAS.com – Plans for the arrival of pure electric vehicles or BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles) from Jetour in Indonesia will apparently not materialise in the near future. This Chinese manufacturer is choosing a more cautious approach before truly entering that segment. Moch Ranggy Radiansyah, Marketing Director of PT Jetour Sales Indonesia, stated that his company does not want to rush just to be the first to introduce new technology. According to him, there are many factors that need to be considered before launching electric vehicles in Indonesia. These include product readiness, adjustment of features to local needs, and the supporting ecosystem that determines the consumer ownership experience. “We are adjusting some features that are indeed quite relevant for Indonesia, as well as the readiness of other production ecosystems that support the product launch or ownership experience. So we do not want to rush,” he said. Globally, according to him, Jetour actually already has a complete portfolio, ranging from conventional engines (ICE), hybrids, to pure electric vehicles. However, for the Indonesian market, the strategy deemed most realistic at present is gradual electrification. Therefore, Jetour is instead prioritising plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models as a bridge to the full electric vehicle era. One of those that will soon arrive is the PHEV version of the Jetour T2.
