JAKARTA — A Jetour T2 vehicle fire incident on the Jagorawi Toll Road in early February 2026 attracted considerable attention. However, its impact on consumer interest is described as minimal.

Jetour Indonesia noted that some prospective buyers did enquire about the incident with sales staff. However, after receiving explanations regarding investigation results, the majority continued with their purchase process.

“There was indeed some consumer interest and questions about this. Usually, when they already have the intention to purchase, they ask sales staff about it,” said a Jetour representative in Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

“However, after we explained the investigation results, consumers still proceeded with the purchase process. So it was indeed a consideration for them because they had been exposed to the news beforehand,” they added.

According to the representative, prospective consumers today generally seek information before visiting dealers.

“But when they see the vehicle in person, understand its body structure, and take it for a test drive, ultimately they still decide to purchase,” they said.

“Our consumers typically conduct product research well in advance. Before going to dealers or exhibitions, they usually watch various tests and reviews,” the representative noted.

Consequently, the purchase process typically requires only additional confirmation to make consumers feel more confident before deciding to buy the vehicle.

Case closed

The representative stated that they had held a meeting with the Ministry of Transportation and the National Committee for Transportation Safety (KNKT) to discuss the investigation results.

“Regarding the incident, we have already held a meeting with the Ministry of Transportation and also the KNKT,” they said.

“During that meeting, investigation results were presented stating that the incident was a pure accident with no factors originating from the product,” they added.
