Jet Fuel Prices Soar, KLM Airline Cancels 160 Flights

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, AMSTERDAM – KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, on Thursday (16/4/2026), stated that it will cancel 160 flights in Europe next month. This is due to rising fuel costs, particularly avtur. In a statement, the Dutch government-owned airline said it has made “several adjustments” to its flight schedule for the coming month. “This concerns a small number of flights in Europe which, due to the increase in avtur costs, are currently no longer financially viable to operate,” the company said. KLM stated that there is no shortage of jet fuel and that the cancellations involve 80 fewer round-trip flights to and from Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, representing less than one percent of its European operations during that period.
