Jet Fuel Prices Rise 30 Percent: Response from Airlines Association
The Indonesian National Airlines Association (INACA) appreciates the government’s policy in addressing the extremely high increase in jet fuel (avtur) prices due to the geopolitical crisis in the Middle East. The government has set a 30 percent rise in fuel surcharges for jet and non-jet aircraft, and eliminated import duties on spare parts. “We appreciate the government’s policy because it is indeed not easy to address the very high increase in avtur fuel prices due to the geopolitical crisis in the Middle East,” said INACA General Chairman Denon Prawiraatmadja in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday (6/4/2026). Denon views this policy as aligning with the needs of airlines and the public. Additionally, there is government support through the temporary elimination of 11 percent VAT and the reduction of import duties on spare parts to zero percent. Denon hopes this policy can be quickly implemented in the field. “This way, it can help airline operations in maintaining flight safety and comfort, as well as assist the public and government in preserving air transport connectivity,” said Denon.
