Jet-foil has engine trouble

SERANG, West Java: A jet-foil with 40 people on board was adrift in Sunda Strait waters near Tanjung Lesung, Pandeglang regency, Banten, for several hours yesterday after its engine stalled.

No casualties occurred and all of the passengers were safely evacuated, Banten port administrator Jimmy Abubakar Nikijuluw said.

Antara reported that among the passengers of the Wakatoa were Director General of Mining Kuntoro Mangkusubroto and Director General of Geology and Mineral Resources Adjad Sudradjat.

The rescue team, led by head of the National Search and Rescue Body Admiral Harinto, evacuated the passengers with the help of the Gunung Batu ship. They were taken to Cidungur in Labuan district.

The passengers were reportedly members of a team sent to monitor the activity of Mt. Krakatau.
