Jesus Vivas: 11,000 Moroccan Immigrants Still in Ceuta

The mayor of Ceuta, Juan Jesus Vivas, has stated that the number of Moroccan immigrants still in the enclave is significantly underestimated by the Spanish government. Following a widely reported wave of arrivals at the end of July, Vivas said the number of undocumented immigrants ranges between 8,000 and 11,000 people. “The government claims that 2,500 migrants remain in Ceuta. Initial data shows that between 8,000 and 11,000 people are still there,” Vivas said in a video posted on platform X by the Europa Press news agency. Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska said around 72,000 migrants had entered the Spanish territory on the North African coast, with approximately 70,000 of them having returned to Morocco. Meanwhile, Moroccan authorities estimate that around 40,000 people entered Ceuta, the Spanish enclave in North Africa.
