Jepara's Nutrition Service Units to Display Price Labels and Nutritional Information
The Jepara Regency’s Task Force for the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG) in Central Java has mandated that every nutrition service unit (SPPG) attaches a label detailing the price breakdown and nutritional content on each meal package as a form of transparency to the public.
‘We ask all SPPG and partner meal providers to implement this provision,’ said the Chair of the MBG Acceleration Task Force Jepara, who is also the Deputy Regent of Jepara Muhammad Ibnu Hajar, in Jepara, Central Java, on Friday.
He explained that the label on MBG packaging will contain several important pieces of information, such as the date of the menu, whether the portion is large or small, the price details of each food item, and the total price of the meal package.
Additionally, the label will include information on the nutritional adequacy values (AKG), including the energy content contained in a single meal package.
‘Each MBG package must be equipped with a label that provides the menu price and its nutritional content. This is a form of transparency to the public,’ he said.
Ibnu emphasised that the policy should be implemented promptly by all SPPG in Jepara Regency.
The Task Force targets that labeling on MBG packages will be in operation starting Monday (9 March 2026).
‘We have also written to all partners. We request that its implementation can be rolled out from next week,’ he said.
He added that previous menu transparency had also been carried out through publications on social media and in communication groups.
However, going forward, this information will be reinforced by direct labeling on each meal package.
He hopes that this step will enhance the openness of information in the MBG programme’s implementation while also safeguarding public trust in the quality of nutrition services.
