Idul Adha 1447 Hijriah marked a special occasion for residents of Jepang Village in Margomulyo Subdistrict, Bojonegoro Regency, East Java. On Wednesday, 27 May 2026, villagers located approximately 60 kilometres from Madiun City received sacrificial animals through Dompet Dhuafa East Java’s Qurban Distribution Program (THK) 2026.

Following the Eid al-Adha prayers, residents gathered to prepare for the animal slaughter. Some prepared the slaughter area while others assisted with cutting and packaging equipment.

For Jepang Village residents, the program was particularly significant as this year’s distribution far exceeded previous years. ‘This is a special day for us. It’s a record number of qurban in our village. Previously, we only received five, ten, or up to 20 animals, but today Dompet Dhuafa provided 70. We are deeply grateful,’ said Jumadi, a beneficiary of THK 2026, in a written statement received by Kompas.com on Saturday, 30 May 2026.

The slaughter process involved local volunteers working together from slaughtering, cutting, weighing, to packaging. The meat was weighed in approximately 2-kilogram portions and packed in besek (rattan baskets) and teak leaves.

M Miran, a community leader in Jepang Village, stated the meat would be distributed to hundreds of families in the village and surrounding areas. ‘We are immensely thankful; around 270 families in Jepang Village will receive qurban meat, evenly divided. It will also be shared with hundreds more in nearby villages,’ Miran added.

Beyond Bojonegoro, Dompet Dhuafa East Java’s THK program was implemented in several other regions. Arief, a representative of Dompet Dhuafa East Java, noted that by the first day of Eid al-Adha, 390 sheep and goat equivalents had been distributed across 13 areas in East Java. ‘As of today, based on preliminary data, Dompet Dhuafa East Java has distributed 390 sheep and goat equivalents across 13 regions in East Java,’ he said.

He explained the program also reached Surabaya, Situbondo, Tuban, Mojokerto, Madiun, Ponorogo, Pacitan, Banyuwangi, Jember, Gresik, Madura, and Sumenep. Distribution would continue until the third day after Eid al-Adha. ‘Insha’Allah, by the third day of Tasyrik, we will distribute a total of 1,500 sheep and goats,’ he added.

The THK 2026 programme involved multiple stakeholders including amil (distributors), breeders, donors, companies, financial institutions, communities, couriers, and beneficiaries. Through this collaboration, qurban distribution not only fulfils the religious obligation of Eid al-Adha but also extends benefits to remote and needy communities. Dompet Dhuafa stated the THK Qurban Series 2026 aims to simplify qurban participation while broadening its reach.
