Jembrana Regent I Made Kembang Hartawan handed over post-harvest agricultural machinery assistance in the form of power threshers to seven subak groups. The handover of the assistance, sourced from the Ministry of Agriculture’s budget, was held at the Subak Keduwa fields in Negara District on Wednesday (22/7/2026). This rice thresher assistance is one of the Jembrana Regency Government’s measures to continuously boost agricultural mechanisation in order to strengthen regional food security. Not merely handing it over, Kembang also directly tried operating a power thresher in the Subak Keduwa rice fields to ensure the machinery functioned optimally. When handing over the equipment, Kembang began his speech by giving firm instructions to the Head of the Jembrana Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food Agency and all extension officers to diligently go into the field to directly absorb farmers’ aspirations. ‘The agency head must frequently meet farmers and absorb their aspirations. Because if we do not go directly into the field, we will never know the real complaints and obstacles faced by farmers,’ Kembang stressed. Kembang explained that the distribution of this power thresher assistance was deliberately focused on supporting subak areas with specific land characteristics, especially rice fields that cannot be reached by large combine harvesters due to topography or unit limitations. ‘This machinery is certainly very useful, especially when farmers’ land is muddy, small in size, or cannot be reached by combine machines,’ Kembang stated. Through this assistance, Kembang hopes that agricultural sector productivity will continue to soar towards sustainable food independence and self-sufficiency. Kembang also advised that the assistance be jointly maintained and cared for by all members of the farmer groups. ‘Please make maximum use of it. It must be remembered, this is assistance for the farmer group, so it is communal property, not personal property, and please take good care of it. Hopefully this assistance can be beneficial. We really hope that with this government assistance, agricultural production yields will also increase,’ Kembang explained. The seven farmer groups/subak that have passed verification and received the power thresher assistance are Subak Yehembang (Mendoyo District), Subak Air Sumbul (Mendoyo District), Subak Sawe Dauh Tukad (Jembrana District), Subak Keduwa (Negara District), Subak Telepus Sari (Negara District), Subak Paswar Palasari (Melaya District), and Subak Mertasari (Melaya District).
