Jember Regional Representative Achmad Syahri Explains Playing Game During Meeting: Forgot to Feed Cows in Simulation

Jember, VIVA – Jember Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) member Achmad Syahri As Siddiqi has admitted to playing a game and smoking during a plenary session, claiming he had forgotten to feed cows within the agricultural simulation game.

‘I asked for the reason behind his actions, and he said he had forgotten to feed the cows in the farming game,’ said Hanan Kukuh Ratmono, Chairman of the Gerindra Faction at the Jember DPRD, following a faction meeting in East Java on Monday.

Ratmono noted that the faction has addressed the matter internally. As a member of the Gerindra Party, Syahri has undergone an ethics hearing at the Party Honour Council (MKP) in Jakarta, resulting in a final severe warning.

‘We will strictly adhere to the decision. If a similar mistake is made by Syahri, the sanction will be more severe, namely dismissal from the Jember DPRD,’ he stated. He added that disciplinary measures would apply to all Gerindra members in the Jember DPRD should similar violations occur.

Meanwhile, Syahri was absent from two plenary sessions on Monday afternoon regarding the 202ng Draft Regional Regulation on the Change of the Regional Regulation Formation Programme (Propemperda) and the Report on the Results of the 2026 Recess I. Syahri informed other members that he was feeling unwell, preventing his attendance.

Previously, Achmad Syahri As Siddiqi went viral after video footage showed him smoking and playing a mobile game during a meeting at the Jember DPRD. He expressed deep regret and apologised for his behaviour, admitting it was an error in judgement during a formal meeting regarding health issues in the DPRD Commission, and asserted it was a first-time occurrence.

‘I am very regretful, deeply regretful for doing that, and I will not repeat it,’ he said. Despite his apology, the severe warning from the Gerindra Party remains in effect, while institutional sanctions from the Jember DPRD are currently awaiting a decision from the Ethics Committee (BK).
