The Jember Fashion Carnaval (JFC) continues to cement its standing as an icon of Indonesian tourism and the creative economy. Entering its 26th year, this world-class event is set to take place on 24–26 July 2026 in Jember, East Java, carrying the grand theme ‘HEAL (Humanity, Earth, and Life)’.

As one of the Top 10 flagship events of the Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) 2026, JFC is no longer merely a fashion parade. This year, the organisers emphasise a message of sustainability and global awareness of humanitarian and environmental issues through spectacular creative works.

JFC’s Brand Ambassador and Chief Judge, Bubah Alfian, asserted that the future direction of JFC has moved beyond the label of the biggest carnival. The primary focus now is building an inclusive creative art ecosystem.

‘I no longer talk about the biggest carnival. We have already become the biggest. Going forward, I want us to create the largest creative ecosystem, bringing together the carnival, SMEs, tourism, music and film,’ said Bubah Alfian at a press conference in Jakarta.

JFC President Budi Setiawan revealed a significant change to this year’s show format. Whereas participants previously performed in a conventional defile system, JFC 2026 will adopt a fully theatrical approach.

The show will open with an hour-long theatrical drama telling the narrative of the ‘Goddess of the Earth’. Audiences will be invited to journey through the story of the Earth, from its initial beauty to the dynamics of the events that have shaped the planet’s current condition. This concept is expected to deliver a deeper and more emotional experience for visitors.

The Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia has given its full backing to JFC’s consistency in driving the national creative economy sector. Gana Noviardi, Deputy for Tourism Products and Event Management at the Ministry, stated that JFC remains one of the 125 best events selected by the government.

The success of JFC 2026 is also supported by cross-sector synergy involving various strategic partners.

Through this collaboration, JFC 2026 is expected to serve not only as a showcase of creativity, but also as an engine for the local economy, a boost to foreign tourist arrivals, and an effective medium to convey messages of peace and sustainable living to the world.
