Jelambar Fire Victims Complain of Lost Educational Certificates and Important Documents
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Sutisna, a victim of the fire in RT 11/RW 08, Jelambar Village, Grogol Petamburan District, West Jakarta, has expressed distress over the loss of his wife’s and children’s educational certificates during the disaster.
“My wife’s vocational school (SMK) certificate, as well as the certificates for my two children, were not saved. The SMK certificates belong to my wife and my eldest child, while the junior high (SMP) and primary school (SD) certificates belong to my second child,” Sutisna told ANTARA at the location on Friday.
In addition to the educational documents, the ownership papers (BPKB) for two motorcycles and his driving licence (SIM) were also destroyed by the flames.
“I have already applied to replace my ID card (KTP) and Family Card (KK) yesterday. However, the BPKB, driving licence, and school certificates are still pending. These documents are crucial, especially since my eldest child has just started working,” he said.
When met at the site, Sutisna was seen attempting to rebuild his home, which was razed by the fire. Bricks from the remains of the house that were still usable were being collected and repurposed as construction material.
Previously, a fire struck several houses on Jalan Jelambar Utama No 27, RT 05/RW 07 Jelambar, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, on Monday (14/9) morning.
The Head of Operations for the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service, Syaiful Kahfi, confirmed that they received the initial report at 07:59 WIB on Monday.
“Upon receiving the information, an initial team consisting of six units and 30 personnel was deployed,” said Syaiful. The firefighting process was reportedly difficult due to the houses being located in a densely populated residential area.
