Jealous Wife Slashes Husband's Throat After Catching Him Cheating in Parangtritis

A domestic dispute in Parangtritis, Bantul, has revealed a tragic story. The victim, identified as S (35), was reportedly attacked by his wife, AF (26), after she discovered he was having an affair.

The couple had moved to the new capital city, Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan, to start a meatball stall. They were visiting their hometown in Karanganyar to build a house. The argument between the couple had started in Karanganyar, after S found out that AF was communicating with another man via smartphone.

“The couple’s relationship had become strained. They had also argued in their house in Karanganyar,” said the Head of Public Relations at the Bantul Police, Iptu Rita Hidayanto, during a press conference on Wednesday (13/5/2026).

“The argument occurred after the victim found out that the suspect was communicating with another man on her phone,” she added.

After discovering the communication, S confronted AF. However, the argument escalated into a fight.

“At that time, the victim reminded her, but a misunderstanding occurred, and it turned into a fight at their house in Karanganyar. The suspect then took a knife from the kitchen and swung it at the victim’s temple,” said the Head of the Kretek Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Ipda Kismanto, at the Bantul Police Station on Wednesday (13/5).

As a result, S suffered a cut on his temple that required six stitches. After the fight subsided, AF invited the victim and their child for a picnic at Parangtritis Beach on Saturday (9/5) afternoon.

After enjoying the beach, the three of them returned to their lodging to rest. However, AF said she was going shopping, while the victim and their child returned to the lodging.

“While shopping, the suspect bought a knife,” said Kismanto.

The suspect then slashed her husband’s throat while he was sleeping with their child. AF reportedly apologized to the victim before slashing his throat.

“Then, the victim’s hands were put behind his back, and the suspect hugged him. While hugging him, the suspect apologized to the victim. Then, while saying sorry, the suspect slashed the victim’s throat, and she did it more than twice,” he said.

The victim screamed, and people came to help. The suspect panicked and immediately fled with her child. After being taken to the hospital, the victim, who survived, immediately reported his wife to the police.

“The suspect fled with her child, but she was eventually secured on Jalan Parangtritis at around 9:00 PM,” he said.

Allegedly Triggered by Infidelity

The police said that the suspect’s actions were premeditated. AF had been caught by her husband having an affair.

“Because the suspect was caught by the victim having a relationship with another man, a misunderstanding occurred between the two, and the suspect became emotional and tried to kill her husband,” he said.

The suspect is also suspected of hugging and apologizing to the victim to make him feel safe.

“So, in Karanganyar, there was already an act of violence, so the suspect hugged him while apologizing. But it turned out that she continued to slash her husband’s throat,” he said.

In this case, the police confiscated evidence in the form of a knife and clothing. The suspect faces criminal charges under Article 44 paragraph (2) of Law No. 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence (Law on Domestic Violence).
