JD Vance Still Believes US Should Stop Funding Conflict in Ukraine

Washington (ANTARA) - US Vice President JD Vance stated that he still believes the United States should no longer send money to fund the military conflict in Ukraine. “I once said that we should stop funding the war in Ukraine … and I still believe that,” Vance said while speaking at an event for the US conservative organisation Turning Point USA. He described President Donald Trump’s decision to stop providing weapons to Ukraine, now replaced with selling weapons to Kyiv, as one of the greatest achievements of the current US administration. During his meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in July, President Trump stated that Washington would continue to supply weapons to Ukraine, but European countries must bear the costs of all such armaments. He called this move a “big deal” with “military equipment worth billions of US dollars” to be purchased from the US. Meanwhile, Russia views the decision to supply weapons to Ukraine as hindering peace efforts and potentially drawing NATO into the conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that any logistical shipments carrying weapons for Ukraine would be considered legitimate targets for attack by Russia.
