Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) pared most of its losses in Monday’s (19 October 2026) Session II trading. At 14:51 WIB, the JCI had returned to 5,002.28, down 182.82 points, or 3.53%.

Towards late afternoon, the trend began to reverse. The JCI edged higher and moved back above the psychological 5,000 level. Its intraday high was 5,006.07, more than 98 points above its low. The recovery narrowed the index’s losses. Earlier, at 11:00 WIB, the index was still around 4,980.

Trading activity remained high. Total transaction volume reached 240.98 million lots, with a value of around Rp15.53 trillion. This was higher than previously reported, indicating that investors remained active amid market volatility.

According to Refinitiv, the JCI’s smaller decline reflected a reduced fall in the infrastructure sector, which was down 2.2%, followed by property, down 2.5%, and industrial shares, down 2.8%.

Stocks helping to limit the JCI’s losses included PT Bank Sinarmas Tbk (BSIM), PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI), PT Adaro Andalan Indonesia Tbk (AADI), PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (PTBA), and PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA).

Meanwhile, stocks continuing to weigh on the JCI included PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA), PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI), PT Bayan Resources Tbk (BYAN), PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (TLKM), and PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk (AMMN).

The JCI’s movement suddenly reversed. After falling 5% by the close of Session I, its losses abruptly narrowed to 3.8%.

There were market rumours that Danantara would enter the stock market to buy shares in state-owned companies that had fallen sharply and were trading at very low valuations.
