JCI Surges Nearly 1 Per Cent After Lunar New Year; Three Top Blue-Chip Gainers

Jakarta — The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) surged nearly 1 per cent during the first trading session on Wednesday. The index strengthened by 0.89 per cent, or 72.81 points, to reach 8,285.08 on the afternoon of 18 February 2026.

The index moved within a range of 8,227 to a high of 8,302. Transaction value was recorded at Rp 13.17 trillion, with a total of 1.78 million transactions.

The JCI's strong performance was underpinned by gains across nearly all equity sectors. Only the healthcare sector posted a decline, falling 0.24 per cent.

The transport sector booked the highest gain at 3.17 per cent, followed by the consumer cyclical sector, which rose 2.55 per cent, and the energy sector, which climbed 1.79 per cent.

From a technical perspective, the Phintraco Sekuritas analyst team noted the formation of a positive MACD histogram, accompanied by an upward-moving Stochastic RSI indicator.

"We therefore project the JCI to move within a range of 8,250 to 8,300 during the second trading session today," the Phintraco Sekuritas analyst team forecast in their daily research note on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.

Phintraco Sekuritas also reported the stocks posting the highest price gains in the first trading session following the extended Lunar New Year holiday. The three top gainers among the 45 blue-chip stocks (LQ45) were as follows:

PT Merdeka Battery Materials Tbk (MBMA) — shares surged 8.97 per cent, or 65 points, to 790.

PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk (EMTK) — shares jumped 5.95 per cent, or 55 points, to 980.

PT Surya Citra Media Tbk (SCMA) — shares gained 3.92 per cent, or 12 points, to 318.
