JCI Surges 4.42% at Market Close Today, US-Iran Ceasefire Boosts Indonesia's Market
Jakarta, VIVA - The Composite Stock Price Index (JCI) added to its gains at the end of today’s trading session. The JCI surged significantly by 4.42 per cent or 308.18 points, breaking through the 7,279.21 level at market close on Wednesday, 8 April 2026.
Based on monitoring by VIVA on Stockbit, the JCI consistently moved upwards from the 7,118 to 7,281 range since the start of trading. The transaction value was recorded at Rp22.86 trillion, with a daily transaction volume of 430.65 million shares and a total of 2.43 million transactions conducted by investors.
“The JCI rebound was triggered by optimism over the ceasefire and a sharp correction in crude oil prices,” said an Analyst from Phintraco Sekuritas, quoted from the daily research on Wednesday, 8 April 2026.
US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire agreement to postpone plans for attacking infrastructure in Iran for two weeks. This news caused the WTI crude oil price to drop around 15 per cent, while Brent crude corrected by more than 13 per cent until Wednesday afternoon, 8 April 2026.
All sectors strengthened, with the largest gain in the basic materials sector at 8.91 per cent, in line with the strengthening of most metal commodities. The infrastructure sector jumped 6.27 per cent, and the industrial sector soared 6.06 per cent.
“Technically, the formation of a positive histogram continues, accompanied by an increase in buy volume. The Stochastic RSI also indicates that the JCI strengthening has the potential to continue. The JCI has broken through the MA5 and MA20 levels,” added the Analyst from Phintraco Sekuritas.
