JCI Surges 112 Points in First Session, Analysts Reveal Potential to Break 8,400 Level Today

Jakarta, VIVA — The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) posted a significant gain during the midday trading session today. The JCI strengthened by 1.36 per cent or 112.28 points to break through the 8,384.05 level in the first session of trading on Monday, 23 February 2026.

Based on VIVA’s monitoring via Stockbit, the JCI accelerated straight to the 8,372 level at the market opening. The domestic index then continued to move sideways within the range of 8,335 to 8,395.

Transaction value throughout the morning to midday trading session was recorded at Rp13.06 trillion. Transaction volume reached Rp304.89 billion with a total of 1.90 million transactions.

All stock sectors rose in unison. The basic materials sector led gains at 3.66 per cent, followed by the transportation sector up 2.16 per cent and the energy sector rising 1.66 per cent.

Gains were also recorded in the consumer cyclical sector at 1.53 per cent, the financial sector surged 1.38 per cent, the technology sector strengthened 1.09 per cent, the infrastructure sector jumped 1.06 per cent, the non-cyclical consumer sector rose 0.88 per cent, the healthcare sector climbed 0.70 per cent, and the property sector advanced 0.66 per cent.

The Phintraco Sekuritas analyst team assessed that technically, the JCI has successfully held above its 20-day moving average at around the 8,309 level. This movement was accompanied by the continued formation of a positive MACD histogram.

“We forecast the JCI has the potential to continue its strengthening to test the psychological level of 8,400 in the second trading session today,” said the Phintraco Sekuritas analyst team, as quoted from their daily research on Monday, 23 February 2026.

In their research, Phintraco Sekuritas also reported a number of top-performing stocks among the 45 blue-chip shares known as LQ45. The following are the three top gainers that recorded the highest price surges:

PT XLSMART Telecom Sejahtera Tbk (EXCL) EXCL shares soared 6.73 per cent or 210 points to 3,330.

PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk (INKP) INKP shares jumped 5.87 per cent or 575 points to break through the 10,375 area.

PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk (UNVR) UNVR shares also posted positive results, gaining 5.36 per cent or 120 points to the 2,360 position.
