The Indonesia Composite Index (IHSG) closed slightly higher during the trading period of 27 to 31 July 2026. According to data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), the index rose by 0.64 per cent compared to the previous week. The IHSG ended the week at the 6,236.12 level, an increase from the previous week’s position of 6,196.43. The market capitalisation of the IDX also increased by 0.48 per cent to Rp 10,923 trillion, up from Rp 10,870 trillion last week, according to an official statement from the IDX on Sunday, 1 August 2026.

The IDX noted that average trading performance during this week varied. The average daily transaction value fell by 21.86 per cent to Rp 15.44 trillion from Rp 19.76 trillion in the previous week. Similarly, the average daily transaction volume decreased by 31.23 per cent to 30.04 billion shares from 43.68 billion shares. The average daily transaction frequency also dropped by 31.88 per cent to 1.82 million transactions from 2.67 million transactions last week. At the close of trading on Friday, 31 July 2026, foreign investors recorded a net sell of Rp 250.58 billion, bringing the total net sell by foreign investors throughout 2026 to Rp 72.987 trillion.

The movement of the IHSG aligned with the strengthening of most regional Asian markets. Maximilianus Nico Demus, Associate Director of Research and Investment at Pilarmas Investindo Sekuritas, stated that market participants were responding to US economic data releases and the results of China’s Politburo meeting. US economic data showed that Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) inflation in June 2026 slowed to 3.7 per cent year-on-year. Meanwhile, second-quarter 2026 economic growth in the US slowed to 1.5 per cent year-on-year. “These conditions have triggered investor speculation that the Fed will shift its focus from inflation control to mitigating economic slowdown. Consequently, the market expects the Fed to maintain interest rates at the September 2026 policy meeting,” said Nico, as quoted by Antara.
