JCI Strengthens in First Trading Session After US-Iran Talks Fail to Reach Agreement

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Composite Stock Price Index (JCI) closed with a slight gain in the first trading session on Monday (13/4/2026), despite the United States and Iran failing to reach an agreement in negotiations.

Based on data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), the JCI closed up 34.234 points or 0.46 percent to the level of 7,492.731. Throughout the trading session, the index reached a high of 7,500.135 and a low of 7,351.361.

The JCI’s movement at the start of the session was initially pressured, dipping into negative territory, but it gradually reversed to strengthen and remained in positive territory until the close of the first session.

Investment Specialist at PT Korea Investment and Sekuritas Indonesia (KISI), Ahmad Faris Mu’tashim, projects that the JCI will tend to move in a consolidation phase throughout this week, with potential weakness at the start of the trading period.

He estimates the JCI will move within a support range at 7,200 and resistance at the 7,500 area.

“The JCI we project will move in a consolidation range this week with weakness at the start of the week. With resistance at 7,500 and support at 7,200,” said Faris when contacted by Kompas.com on Monday.

According to him, investors should monitor commodity-based sectors, particularly coal and oil and gas (migas). Some stocks deemed attractive to watch include PT Adaro Andalan Indonesia Tbk (AADI) and PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MEDC).

He assesses that the current escalation in global sentiment is no longer as intense as in the initial phase, so market participants are considered more prepared to face the occurring dynamics. This condition makes the downward pressure on the market relatively more limited compared to previous periods.

“Thus, investors can conduct partial buys to obtain target stocks at a good average price by taking advantage of the index decline at the start of the week as per our projection,” he concluded.
