Jakarta — The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) fell 21.41 points or 0.25 per cent to 8,374.66 at the close of the first trading session on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.

The JCI had surged to 8,434 at the market opening, reaching the same level as its intraday high during the morning session. However, the index quickly plunged into negative territory, dropping to 8,364 before trading in a volatile range.

Transaction value reached Rp12.60 trillion with a trading volume of Rp26.87 billion, whilst the total number of investor transactions stood at 1.80 million.

The consumer cyclical sector suffered the steepest correction at 1.51 per cent, followed by the energy sector declining 1.23 per cent and the technology sector falling 1.01 per cent. Losses also hit the healthcare sector at 0.74 per cent, the non-cyclical consumer sector at 0.50 per cent, the property sector losing 0.45 per cent, and the infrastructure sector shedding 0.43 per cent.

Despite the JCI languishing in the red, the financial sector posted a sharp gain of 1.07 per cent. The transportation sector rose 0.56 per cent, whilst the basic materials sector climbed 0.29 per cent.

From a technical perspective, the Phintraco Sekuritas analyst team noted that the positive MACD histogram formation was tending to narrow, accompanied by the Stochastic RSI indicator entering overbought territory.

“We estimate the JCI has the potential to continue weakening towards the 8,350 level during the second trading session,” the Phintraco Sekuritas analyst team stated in their daily research note on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.

Phintraco Sekuritas also reported three issuers recording the highest price gains. The following were the top gainers among the 45 blue-chip LQ45 stocks:

PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk (MDKA) — shares surged 2.67 per cent or 100 points to 3,840.

PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk (NCKL) — shares jumped 2.59 per cent or 40 points to 1,585.
