JCI Slightly Weakens to 7,097 as Foreign Investors Continue Aggressive Net Selling of Rp 30.88 Trillion

JAKARTA - The Composite Stock Price Index (JCI) weakened by 0.14% over the trading week or period of 25-27 March 2026. According to data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), the index fell to 7,097.057 from the previous week’s close of 7,106.839. IDX Corporate Secretary Kautsar Primadi Nurahmad stated that the decline also affected the bourse’s market capitalisation, which shrank by 0.24% to Rp 12,516 trillion from Rp 12,547 trillion the previous week. Amid the index’s weakening, trading activity showed an increase instead. The average daily transaction frequency rose 9.01% to 1.73 million transactions from the previous 1.59 million transactions. “The average daily transaction frequency on the IDX was 9.01% higher at 1.73 million transactions compared to 1.59 million transactions at the previous week’s close,” Kautsar said in his statement, quoted on Saturday (28/3/2026). “The average daily transaction volume on the IDX this week increased by 4.81% to 28.31 billion shares from 29.74 billion shares the previous week,” he explained. Meanwhile, the average daily transaction value on the IDX rose by 15.27% to Rp 23.33 trillion from Rp 20.24 trillion the previous week. From the perspective of foreign fund flows, foreign investors recorded net selling of Rp 1.76 trillion on Friday (27/3/2026). Cumulatively for the week, net selling reached Rp 22.37 trillion. Since the beginning of 2026, foreign investors have still booked net sales of Rp 30.88 trillion. The JCI opened at 7,136.366 and moved within a range of 7,070.212 to 7,154.558. Throughout the session, the index tended to fluctuate with dominant selling pressure until the close. Trading activity was quite brisk, with volume reaching 19.80 billion shares and transaction value of Rp 11.77 trillion. Transaction frequency was 1.39 million times. From the stock movement perspective, pressure was more dominant with 379 stocks weakening, while 274 stocks strengthened, and 167 stocks were stagnant. The IDX market capitalisation only reached Rp 12,542 trillion.
