JCI Slightly Weakens in Morning Session, Check 3 Top Gainers
The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) fell slightly after rallies in several trading sessions this week. The JCI weakened by 0.08 per cent or 5.85 points to the level of 7,168.47 in the first session of trading on Friday, 8 May 2026.
The JCI was observed moving in the range of 7,117 to 7,187. The daily transaction volume was recorded at Rp 22.15 billion with the number of trading activities conducted by investors amounting to 1.39 million transactions.
The basic materials sector plunged the most by 2.90 per cent. Sharp declines were also recorded in the transportation sector by 2.85 per cent and the industrial sector corrected by 1.54 per cent.
Conversely, the infrastructure sector strengthened by 2.15 per cent, the health sector rose 0.29 per cent, and the technology sector surged 0.09 per cent.
Phintraco Sekuritas analysts assessed that technically, the Stochastic RSI rebounded from the oversold area and began trending upwards. The MACD indicator shows a narrowing of the negative histogram.
“With that condition, the JCI is expected to move in the range of 7,100-7,200 in the second trading session today,” stated the Phintraco Sekuritas analyst in their daily research on Friday, 8 May 2026.

PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAPI)
MAPI shares soared 7.72 per cent or 100 points to 1,395.
PT Indosat Tbk (ISAT)
ISAT shares strengthened 4.85 per cent or 100 points to the level of 2,250.
PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MEDC)
Positive results were also achieved by MEDC shares by 3.15 per cent or 50 points to 1,635.
