Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Composite Stock Price Index (JCI) strengthened by 0.83% or 57.90 points to 7,029.86 at the end of the first trading session today, Tuesday (5/5/2026). The index, which opened in the red zone, gradually moved into the green zone following the announcement of economic growth data by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

346 stocks rose, 297 fell, and 169 others remained unchanged. The total share transactions today reached Rp9.21 trillion, involving 25.34 billion shares in 1.47 million transactions.

The JCI is experiencing an increase compared to yesterday’s closing level on Monday (4/5/2026) at 6,971.95. Although at the start of trading, the JCI briefly declined to 6,921.61.

Today’s market rise was supported by significant gains in the basic industry sector by 1.68%, finance by 1.48%, infrastructure by 1.41%, transportation by 1.20%, and energy by 0.86%.

Banking issuers and Prajogo business conglomerates were recorded as the main drivers of the JCI’s performance today. The supporting issuers include BBRI, BRPT, BBCA, TPIA, BMRI, DSSA, BBNI, BNLI, AMMN, and PTRO.

Based on transaction value, Barito Pacific Tbk (BRPT) became the issuer with the highest transaction value, nearly Rp1.5 trillion, followed by Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) at Rp1.3 trillion, Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) at Rp1.1 trillion, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) at Rp1 trillion, and DMS Propertindo Tbk (KOTA) at Rp650 billion.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia’s economy in the first quarter of 2026 recorded growth of 5.61% year-on-year (yoy).

This growth rate is higher than 5.39% in the fourth quarter of 2025 and the same period last year, or the first quarter of 2025, at 4.87% yoy.

“Indonesia’s economic growth is 5.61% in the first quarter of 2026,” said BPS Head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti during a press conference at the BPS Head Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (5/5/2026).
