The JCI remains volatile: a peek at foreign activity in Session 1
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Foreign investors recorded a net sell of Rp878.5 billion during the first trading session on Tuesday (31/3/2026). Indo Premier data shows foreign purchases reached Rp2.4 trillion, while sales were higher at Rp3.3 trillion.
Overall, foreign investor selling actions still dominated the first session’s trading, particularly in banking stocks and the energy sector. However, some big-cap stocks such as BMRI, BBCA, and TLKM still recorded buying activity.
On the selling side, foreign investors offloaded the most BBRI shares, valued at Rp139.6 billion. This was followed by BRMS at Rp99.0 billion and BUMI at Rp69.2 billion. Foreign sales were also seen in MEDC shares at Rp51.3 billion and CUAN at Rp42.8 billion.
On the buying side, the stocks most collected by foreign investors were BMRI with a purchase value of around Rp61.0 billion, followed by INDF at Rp58.8 billion, and BBCA at Rp20.7 billion. Next were TLKM at Rp13.7 billion and MDKA at Rp11.9 billion.

The Composite Stock Price Index (JCI) in Session 1 today, Tuesday (31/3/2026), fell 37.89 points or -0.53% to the level of 7,053.78. A total of 282 stocks rose, 403 fell, and 273 were unchanged.
Transaction values reached Rp7.46 trillion, involving 14.55 billion shares in 999,700 transactions. Market capitalisation was also eroded to Rp12,417 trillion.
The JCI’s volatility throughout the session was quite high. The JCI opened trading in the green zone and even rose 0.8% at one point. However, about an hour after opening, the JCI plunged into the red zone.
