JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) failed to escape downward pressure until the close of the first trading session on Friday (24/4/2026). The index dropped 3.06% to the level of 7,152.853.

Senior Analyst at Mirae Asset Sekuritas, Nafan Aji Gusta, assessed that the index’s weakening occurred alongside selling actions in large-capitalisation stocks and conglomerate groups that serve as the main pillars of the market, including PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk (AMMN), PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA), PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN), and PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (TLKM).

Based on data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), AMMN shares closed at 4,870, down 355 points or 6.79%.

Meanwhile, BREN weakened by 210 points or 4.26% to 4,720.

TLKM fell 100 points or 3.47% to 2,780.

“Conglomerate group and blue-chip stocks uniformly turned red, with AMMN down 6.6%, BBCA down 5.8%, BREN down 4.3%, and TLKM plunging 3.5%,” Nafan said when confirmed by Kompas.com on Friday.

On a sectoral basis, all indices recorded weakening, indicating comprehensive pressure in the market.

The sharpest decline occurred in the infrastructure and energy sectors.

This condition also aligns with the movement of the majority of stock exchanges in the Asian region, which traded in negative territory during the midday session.

Only the Tokyo exchange managed to record limited gains, up around 0.7%, while other markets tended to be pressured.

“All sectoral indices experienced corrections, with IDX Infrastructure and IDX Energy suffering the largest drops. The majority of major Asian exchanges are in the red zone midday today, except for Tokyo, which strengthened nearly 0.7%,” he explained.

The JCI was recorded down 225.752 points or 3.06% to the 7,152.853 area.

Since opening at 7,378.072, the index immediately moved into the red zone and continued the downward trend until touching the lowest point at 7,147.579.
