Foreign investors recorded net selling on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) in the first trading session on Thursday (13/8/2026), amid market pressure following the announcement of the MSCI August 2026 Index Review.

According to Stockbit Sekuritas data for the first trading session, foreign investors recorded foreign buy of Rp1.78 trillion, while foreign sell reached Rp2.96 trillion. Thus, foreign investors posted a net sell of Rp1.18 trillion.

The foreign selling was in line with the pressure on the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG). At the close of the first session, the IHSG stood at 6,298.34, down 1.18% from the previous closing position of 6,373.85.

The pressure even briefly brought the IHSG to a low of 6,281.57, before the index slightly pared its losses.

In terms of shares, the largest foreign selling was not concentrated on stocks that had just been removed from the MSCI index.

PT Dian Swastika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA) was the stock most heavily sold by foreign investors, with a net sell of Rp147.57 billion. Next, PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA) recorded a net sell of Rp118.39 billion and PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN) of Rp82 billion.
