JCI Plummets 8.69 Per Cent in One Week

The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) recorded that the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) weakened by 8.69 per cent during the period of 2–5 June 2026. On Friday, 5 June 2026, the JCI closed at the 5,594.76 level.

“Stock trading data at the IDX during the period of 2–5 June 2026 closed in a varied zone,” said IDX Corporate Secretary Kautsar Primadi Nurahmad in an official statement on Saturday, 6 June 2026. The highest increase occurred in the average daily transaction frequency this week, which rose by 14.11 per cent to 2.41 million transactions from 2.11 million transactions last week.

The IDX average daily transaction volume also increased by 8.66 per cent to 33.63 billion shares from 30.95 billion shares in the previous week. Meanwhile, the average daily transaction value this week decreased by 5.71 per cent to Rp 26.97 trillion from Rp 28.38 trillion in the previous week.

IDX market capitalisation fell by 8.59 per cent to Rp 9,807 trillion from Rp 10,729 trillion last week. Foreign investors recorded a net sell value of Rp 3.73 trillion on Friday, 5 June 2026. Meanwhile, throughout the year, foreign investors have recorded a net sell value of Rp 61.36 trillion.

Hasan Fawzi, the Executive Head of Capital Market, Derivatives, and Carbon Exchange Supervision at the OJK, stated that the recent correction and pressure on the JCI reflect the market’s response to a combination of various global and domestic factors. He mentioned that one of the factors was portfolio adjustments by investors following rebalancing announcements by global index providers.

“However, there are also developments in various economic indicators and sentiments, both domestic and global, which also influence and are taken into account by investors,” Hasan said during a press conference for the Monthly Board of Commissioners Meeting held online on Friday, 5 June 2026. He also urged investors to observe various market dynamics objectively, proportionally, and rationally.
