JCI Opens Stronger by 0.30% to Level 6,055
The Indonesia Composite Index (JCI) opened stronger in Monday’s first session, 5 October 2026. The JCI stood at the 6,055.26 level, an increase of 18.27 points or 0.30%.
Immediately after the market opened, the JCI recorded a sharper increase, surging by up to 0.76%. In the first three minutes of trading, the index reached a low of 6,054 and a high of 6,085.
This early session gain continues the upward momentum recorded at the end of last week, where the index rose by 0.46%, or 27.38 points, to the 6,036 level.
In terms of trading activity, transaction volume was recorded at 3.98 billion shares with a transaction value reaching Rp 621 billion, involving 109,705 transactions.
Indonesian financial markets are expected to be calmer throughout this week, 5-9 October 2026, following the instability experienced last week. Both the Rupiah and the JCI have managed to recover from the pressures seen at the end of the previous week.
The ability of the JCI and the Rupiah to continue their strengthening will be tested this week. Throughout the week, financial markets will remain shadowed by the developments of tensions between the United States and Iran, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, and the direction of oil prices following meetings between OPEC and non-OPEC producing nations.
Energy movements are also a point of concern as they may affect inflation and global interest rate expectations. The bond market also remains under scrutiny after rising yields in several countries increased pressure on risky assets.
From the economic calendar, investor attention will be focused on US services sector activity and the FOMC minutes to seek clues regarding the possibility of the next interest rate hike. Eurozone producer inflation will provide insight into corporate cost pressures, while Japanese consumer confidence will serve as an indicator of domestic demand resilience.
In Indonesia, foreign exchange reserves, consumer confidence, and retail sales will be the primary drivers of sentiment. The Chinese economic calendar is relatively quiet due to the Golden Week holiday, which lasts until mid-week. This series of events has the potential to influence the US Dollar, the Rupiah, bond yields, and the JCI.
Meanwhile, most Asia-Pacific stock exchanges gained in Monday’s trading (5/10/2026). This occurred amidst easing market pressure alongside stable oil prices and US bond yields. Japan’s Nikkei 225 led the gains, rising more than 1.7%, while the Topix index strengthened by 0.79% and the S&P/ASX 200 in Australia added 0.53%.
