Jakarta – The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) opened 111 points, or 1.85 percent, higher at 6,118 at the start of trading on Friday, 12 June 2026. Head of Retail Research at BNI Sekuritas, Fanny Suherman, predicted the JCI could continue to strengthen during the day’s trading. “The JCI today has the potential to continue its strengthening to the 6,060 level; be cautious if the JCI breaks 6,000,” Fanny said in her daily research note on Monday, 15 June 2026. She noted that Asian stock markets continued their rally on Friday last week, amid increasing market optimism over the prospects of a peace deal between the US and Iran. This sentiment also pushed oil prices to their lowest level in two months and drove a weakening of the US dollar and US government bond yields. US President Donald Trump stated on Thursday last week that a peace deal with Iran could potentially be signed as soon as the end of that week. In Japan, the Nikkei index rose 2.8 percent and the Topix strengthened 1.3 percent. In South Korea, the Kospi index surged 4.6 percent and the Kosdaq soared 3.2 percent. Additionally, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 1.9 percent, Taiwan’s Taiex strengthened 2.4 percent, and Australia’s ASX 200 gained 1.98 percent. The FTSE Straits Times strengthened 0.8 percent and the FTSE Malay KLCI rose 0.24 percent. “JCI support is at the 5,960-5,900 level, while JCI resistance is in the 6,060-6,150 range,” she stated. Wall Street stock indices closed higher on Friday last week, driven by a surge in SpaceX shares, which soared 19 percent on their first day on the Nasdaq. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.7 percent, the S&P 500 strengthened 0.5 percent, and the Nasdaq Composite added 0.31 percent. SpaceX began trading at US$150 per share, higher than its IPO price of US$135 per share. In the technology sector, positive sentiment was also supported by optimism regarding AI developments. SpaceX is considered one of the investment proxies for AI through its xAI business unit. Meanwhile, Nvidia shares closed slightly higher, while Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) soared 4.7 percent and Alphabet strengthened 0.5 percent.
