JCI Opens in Red, Predicted to Continue Strengthening Like Asian and Wall Street Markets
Jakarta, VIVA – The JCI opened weaker by 31 points or 0.44% at the level of 7,153 during Thursday’s trading session on 2 April 2026.
Head of Retail Research at BNI Sekuritas, Fanny Suherman, predicts that the JCI has the potential to strengthen in today’s trading.
“The JCI has the potential to continue strengthening today,” said Fanny in her daily research on Thursday, 2 April 2026.
She stated that Asia-Pacific stock markets strengthened in Wednesday’s trading, driven by optimism over the easing of the Iran conflict. Meanwhile, the US dollar weakened as demand for safe-haven assets subsided.
In South Korea, the Kospi index surged up to 8.4%, and Japan’s Nikkei 225 soared 5.2%. Positive sentiment emerged after US President Donald Trump stated that military operations against Iran could end in two to three weeks without waiting for a formal agreement.
Significant strengthening occurred in South Korea, driven by economic data that exceeded expectations. Samsung Electronics shares jumped 13.4%, and SK Hynix rose 10.7%.
South Korea’s exports recorded a 48.3% year-on-year growth in March 2026, far above market forecasts. Additionally, manufacturing activity also marked its fastest expansion in more than four years, driven by semiconductor demand and new product launches.
In Japan, a survey showed improving manufacturing business sentiment in the first quarter of 2026, indicating that global uncertainties have not significantly impacted the business world.
“JCI support is at the level of 7,025-7,130, while JCI resistance is in the range of 7,200-7,300,” she said.
For information, Wall Street stock indices collectively strengthened in Wednesday’s trading, in line with increasing market optimism that the conflict between the US and Iran will soon ease. At the same time, global oil prices weakened, reflecting reduced geopolitical risk expectations.
The Dow Jones index rose 0.48%, the S&P 500 strengthened 0.72%, and the Nasdaq Composite jumped 1.16%. The strengthening of the stock market was due to statements from US President Donald Trump, who mentioned that the Iranian President has submitted a ceasefire request.
However, Trump emphasised that the US would only consider this if the strategic Strait of Hormuz is fully open and safe. Previously, Trump also told reporters at the White House that he expects US military forces to be withdrawn from Iran in a timeframe of ‘two to three weeks’.
