Jakarta – The JCI opened higher by 24 points or 0.34% at the level of 7,096 during Wednesday’s trading session on 29 April 2026.

Head of Retail Research at BNI Sekuritas, Fanny Suherman, predicts that the JCI has the potential to remain flat or sideways, overshadowed by weakness in today’s trading.

“The JCI has the potential to move sideways with a tendency to weaken today,” said Fanny in her daily research on Wednesday, 29 April 2026.

She stated that Asian markets varied in Tuesday’s trading, with the majority of indices weakening. Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 1.02%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng dropped 0.95%, China’s CSI 300 weakened 0.27%, and Taiwan’s Taiex declined 0.24%.

Meanwhile, South Korea’s Kospi rose 0.39%, Australia’s ASX 200 decreased 0.64%, the Straits Times fell 0.10%, and Malaysia’s FTSE rose 0.72%.

Asian markets closed mixed but still held near their highest levels since late February 2026, as traders await new catalysts from the Middle East, along with a series of central bank decisions and earnings from major technology companies this week.

Additionally, central banks globally are expected to maintain their interest rates. Investors are now shifting focus to earnings reports from tech giants to test whether the recent stock rally can be sustained.

“JCI support is at the 6,900-7,000 level, while resistance is in the 7,100-7,200 range,” she said.

For information, Wall Street stock indices closed uniformly weaker in Tuesday’s trading, pressured by technology stocks, particularly the semiconductor sector. The S&P 500 fell 0.49%, the Nasdaq Composite corrected 0.9%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped slightly by 0.05%.

The market weakness was caused by reports highlighting a slowdown in OpenAI’s performance, including revenue growth and user numbers that fell short of internal targets. Concerns also arose regarding the company’s ability to meet future computing contracts.
