JCI Gradually Recovers, OJK Says Not All Pressure Has Passed
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has praised market participants, including listed companies that have carried out share buybacks and investors who have continued to trust Indonesia’s capital market, helping the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) rebound.
Hasan Fawzi, Chief Executive for Capital Market, Derivatives and Carbon Exchange Supervision, said improving market conditions did not necessarily mean that all pressure had passed. However, he said the development indicated that the market was beginning to move more rationally and in a more controlled manner as investors digested short-term sentiment.
“Better market conditions certainly do not mean that all pressure has ended, but they indicate that the market is more rational and controlled when investors are able to digest short-term sentiment,” Hasan said at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) building in Jakarta on Monday (26 October 2026).
He stressed that, for regulators, the quality of capital-market movements was more important than the size of gains or losses in the share index. OJK, he added, expressed its highest appreciation to investors, particularly domestic investors, who had held firm amid selling pressure in Indonesia’s equity market.
He also praised listed companies that had taken steps to buy back their shares in response to market conditions.
Hasan further commended domestic institutional investors and other investment managers for taking action amid market pressure.
“We extend our highest appreciation to investors, especially domestic investors, who have held firm amid selling pressure, particularly from foreign investors,” he said.
