JCI Falls to 5,875 Over the Week, Exchange Transaction Value Plummets 35 Percent
The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) fell 0.35 percent to 5,875.780 during the week of 29 June to 3 July 2026, down from 5,896.134 the previous week. Market capitalisation also weakened by 0.14 percent to Rp10,287 trillion from Rp10,302 trillion.
Trading activity saw sharper declines. The average daily transaction frequency dropped 16.71 percent to 1.44 million transactions, while the average daily trading volume corrected by 30.35 percent to 17.54 billion shares. The steepest fall was in the average daily transaction value, which slumped 35.90 percent to Rp11.27 trillion from Rp17.58 trillion a week earlier. Despite the overall sell-off, foreign investors recorded a net buy of Rp6.08 billion at the end of the week, though their cumulative net sell for 2026 stands at Rp74.42 trillion.
Beyond trading, the IDX held its 2026 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) on Monday, 29 June, approving all agenda items including the ratification of the 2025 Annual Report and Financial Statements, the appointment of a public accountant for the 2026 financial year, and the appointment of directors for the 2026–2030 term. The new board of directors emphasised its commitment to continuing capital market reform, strengthening infrastructure resilience, and accelerating transformation towards a modern, inclusive, and globally competitive capital market. The IDX also supported the Capital Market Cyber Security Resilience Forum and, together with the Financial Services Authority (OJK), held the 2026 Integrated Capital Market Socialisation and Education event in East Java to boost literacy on capital markets, including sharia capital markets and carbon trading.
