JCI Expected to Move in Limited Fashion, Retail Investors Advised to Watch BIPI, BKSL, and BNBR Stocks
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Composite Stock Price Index (JCI) is expected to continue its strengthening in Thursday’s trading (7/5/2026). However, the index’s upward movement is assessed as relatively limited and prone to correction.
MNC Sekuritas technical analyst Herditya Wicaksana believes the index’s movement on Thursday will be influenced by global commodity price dynamics, particularly the strengthening of gold prices and the weakening of crude oil prices. This situation could affect the movement of commodity-based stocks.
He predicts the JCI support level at 7,047 and resistance in the 7,170 area.
“For Thursday’s trading, we forecast a relatively limited strengthening of the JCI, prone to correction with support at 7,047 and resistance at 7,170, where we expect it to be influenced by commodity price movements such as the strengthening of gold and the weakening of crude oil,” said Herditya when contacted by Kompas.com on Wednesday evening (6/5/2026).
Additionally, two US commercial ships successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz under US military escort.
Citing Reuters, Brent crude oil prices fell by 4.57 US dollars or 4 percent to 109.87 US dollars per barrel. Meanwhile, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil prices dropped by 4.15 US dollars or 3.9 percent to 102.27 US dollars per barrel.
Meanwhile, global gold prices strengthened on Wednesday. Citing Bloomberg, spot gold prices surged 2.3 percent to 4,660 US dollars per ounce. This rise continued the 0.8 percent strengthening from the previous day’s trading.
